Our Baseball Programs
The Montebello Baseball Association is designed for boys and girls of various ages. You can find information below on the individual divisions.
Tryouts
Tryouts are required for everyone wishing to be placed in normal players draft. Otherwise, they will be placed in blind draft. All players are placed on a team if they sign up before the final registration deadline and guaranteed placement. Everybody Wins!
T-ball Division - ages 4 and 5
The T-ball division is strictly instructional play, hitting off T.
Play consists of three innings in which all team members bat and play
the field each inning. No game score or standings are kept. There is an 1:10 time limit only. No Draft. Players
free to play on same team as much as possible. Soft baseball and all necessary protective equipment will be used.
Shetland Division - ages 5 and 6
Shetland focuses totally on instruction of beginning players. Players
use a softer than usual baseball and start the season by pitched ball tournament style. Play consists of
three innings or a 1:15 hr. time limit, in which all team members bat and play the field each.
No game score or standings are kept. No Draft. All teams make it to the playoffs.
Pinto Division - ages 7 and 8
Players continue to learn the basic fundamentals of baseball. The bases are 50 feet apart and the mound is 38 feet from home plate. Players are allowed to pitch a set number of innings per week. Every player is allowed to hit and they must play a minimum of two defensive innings. Players are “drafted” to teams based on tryout results. There is an 1:20 hr. time limit with no new inning rule in effect. Standing play-offs and championships.
Mustang Division - ages 9 and 10
Begins the player's training in the complete game of baseball. Major League Baseball rules will govern play. Bases are 65
feet apart and the pitching mound is 46 feet from home. No restrictions on base stealing. Lead-offs, bunting, pitching from
the stretch, pick-offs, are introduced. Players are “drafted” based on tryout results. There is an 1:40 hr. time limit with no new inning rule in effect. Standing play-offs and championships.
Bronco Division - ages 11 and 12
Takes the developing young players into the full game of baseball. Bases are 70 feet apart and the pitching mound is 48 feet from home. Major League Baseball rules will govern play. Players are “drafted” based on tryout results. Advanced play pitching mound with major league dugouts. There is an 1:50 hr. time limit with no new inning rule in effect Standing play-offs championships.
Pony (13-14)
The Pony division will have interleague play with other cities such as Pico Rivera, Sante Fe Springs, Rosemead . These players will continue to introduce the maturing players to the complete game of baseball. Bases are 80 feet apart and the pitching mound is 54 feet from home.There is an 2:00 hr. time limit with no new inning rule in effect
